As for words of sympathy — when they come from strangers, they often mean very little. And when they come from people you know, they can sometimes make the pain feel even sharper.
The death of a loved one is a tragedy — a deep, aching grief. Each day may feel colored by memories, by guilt over something left unsaid or undone. It's a sorrow that can't be explained, only felt.
You might want to read The Dark Nights of the Soul by Thomas Moore, or Oscar Wilde’s De Profundis. They probably won’t help much — not really. But maybe they’ll offer a sense that you’re not alone in what you feel.

The word ethics has Greek roots and is related to the concept of «character» or «custom.» As an academic discipline, ethics studies moral principles and norms of behavior—something that closely reflects the idea of character or tradition.
