Tarot Cards: A Magical Key to…
If you feel like the world has gone completely mad, the news is terrifying, and the future looks as uncertain as ever—congratulations! It’s the perfect time to turn to a good old deck of Tarot cards. Because what could be more reliable than 78 pieces of cardboard that (allegedly) know more about your destiny than you do? In recent years, interest in Tarot has skyrocketed, because let’s be honest—it’s way easier to ask the cards than to figure things out on your own. And if Mercury is in retrograde, then a fortune reading onlineis practically a necessity!
First of all, Tarot readings are, of course, a way to peek into the future. Although, if we’re being honest, it’s mostly just a convenient way to shift the responsibility for life decisions onto some mystical illustrations. After all, it’s much nicer to think that the World carddetermines your fate rather than admit you’ve been procrastinating for a whole year.
Secondly, it’s an excellent excuse to take a break and reflect on your life. Some claim Tarot has a therapeutic effect—it helps people understand themselves, figure out what’s going on with others, and even (drumroll, please!) improve their love life. And if a reading doesn’t quite match reality? Well, the cards just weren’t “attuned” to your energy. Try again, but this time, maybe with some candles and dramatic background music.
Where did these mysterious cards even come from? The history of Tarot is shrouded in just as much mystery as the readings themselves. Officially, they first appeared in the 15th century, but conspiracy theorists claim that the ancient Egyptians used them in secret rituals. Of course, there’s as much evidence for this as there is for the lost civilization of Atlantis.
Initially, Tarot cards were just an expensive pastime for the nobility, who apparently got bored of playing chess. By the 16th century, the Italians had come up with a version featuring trump cards, and a couple of centuries later, occultists decided that these weren’t just playing cards but an actual tool for understanding the universe!
By the late 19th century, mystics, philosophers, and other lovers of all things esoteric were obsessively looking for hidden meanings in Tarot. French occultist Éliphas Lévi was the first to connect Tarot with the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. Later, the members of the Golden Dawn (who were basically collectors of mystical trinkets) insisted that Tarot could not only predict the future but even influence it! Judging by history, they weren’t very successful at that.
But Tarot’s real rise to fame came thanks to Arthur Edward Waite, who, in 1911, released a deck that became the gold standard. Unlike earlier versions, which only illustrated the Major Arcana, his deck featured vivid imagery on all 78 cards. This made it possible for even the laziest mystics to interpret readings without spending years studying symbols.
Today, Tarot decks come in all styles: from traditional Marseille Tarot to wildly surreal custom designs. However, their structure remains unchanged:
· Major Arcana (22 cards)– These represent major life events and deep philosophical moments. This set includes the ever-present Fool card, which somehow always makes an appearance in every deck (and in life).
· Minor Arcana (56 cards)– These are divided into four suits:
o Cups– All about emotions and relationships. If your spread is full of Cups, it might be time to re-evaluate your list of toxic friendships.
o Swords– Represent intellect, logic, and conflicts. More swords? More drama incoming.
o Wands– Symbolize energy and ambition. They tend to appear when someone finally decides to start a new life—on Monday, of course.
o Pentacles– Connected to money, work, and material wealth. If your spread overflows with these, maybe it’s time to buy a lottery ticket!
Each suit is tied to an element: water, fire, air, or earth, and the cards tell a story—one that takes you from the innocent Fool to the wise World card(or, if things go wrong, back to the Fool again).
Nowadays, Tarot isn’t just a tool for divination—it’s an entire subculture. You can find decks for every aesthetic: traditional, cosmic, meme-based, and even ones inspired by TV shows. And if you don’t like the reading? No problem! Just grab a different deck and ask again. Maybe the cards will feel more generous the second time around.
In any case, Tarot isn’t just about predictions and magic; it’s also a way to understand yourself better. Or at least, it makes for a great conversation topic over coffee. And if all else fails, you can always claim it just wasn’t the right day for a mediumship reading near me!
So, whether you’re looking for readings near me, a medium reading near me, or just some cosmic reassurance that you’re on the right path, Tarot has got you covered. After all, the future may be uncertain—but at least the cards always have an answer (even if it’s just a very cryptic one).
