I interviewed for a role, quite new for me, had neighbouring roles before.I had a presentation for the head. A recruiter got back to me, saying they did receive a positive feedback from the him but - question #17977
they are not sure if it's a perfect fit and suggested another role for me to have a look. I accepted the interview with the hiring manager for that one, I guess a person that is still under the head, and he questioned me for more than an hour and told me he would need at least a week or week and a half and told me about next steps. Just 5 days later, including a weekend, they informed me that they went for another candidate as they weren't 100% sure if my skills and expectations completely align with what the job offers and requires. Why was I rejected sooner than anticipated? Did he not like me? Am I completely out for the first role I was more interested in? Thank you.
Unfortunately, that's exactly how they treat people they want to eliminate a serious competitors, and that's exactly what they've done to you now. They offer you another position and then turn you down, even though they already have another candidate for that position.

You received positive feedback after your presentation, which is good sign. It wasn't personal. Your interview made good impression and another opportunity with company could come your way.
